KBTR

Artist: KBTR
Nationality: Dutch
Website: http://kbtr-kabouter.nl/

I am a graffiti-character mostly seen on the streets and from your train window. I am known for my red hat and personality with a lot of different appearances and expressions. Kbtr is based on a type of gnome typical for the Netherlands that looks like garden gnomes.

I’m also nicknamed “De Utrechtse Kabouter” after the city Utrecht in which I first appeared and still can be seen the most. I also appear everywhere around, so in that case the name KBTR after the suspected makers is more fitting.

The Theatre-maker Leon Giesen (Mondoleone) is paying attention to The Kabouter in his show “Nominated” about people who make the world a bit more beautiful without personal financial gain. He nominated me for the golden edge award, even after I drank  two crates of beer I found in his backyard while he was on vacation!

Eén Vandaag, a tv news programme, made an item about the Utrechtse Kabouter and also interviewed a tall human seemingly my creator. It was seen at 31-01-2011 on Dutch national tv which was quite unique and a nice compliment.

There was a special edition about the kabouter in “Straatnieuws” (a street-newspaper helping (ex-)homeless people to help themselves) which can be bought from the person often standing in front of supermarkets in Utrecht. After that I voluntarily appear in it as a graffiti-newspaper cartoon every month.

KBTR-kabouter likes to be seriously creative, see people turn their head and smile, ignore petty rules, visit lots of places and stick around there for a while.
