Amsterdam Street Art (ASA) and WACOM present a unique Design Battle at Pakhuis de Zwijger. On Wednesday, October 3rd, 2011, five designers compete in a way that hasn’t been done before. The designers get a pre-designed file by artist Claudia Utopia (ClaudiaTat2) and compete in a 60 minutes battle to re-design the file with their own artwork. A professional panel of top artists and a Wacom representative will call out the winner of the best re-design.
The designers competing in this challenge are:
Telmo ‘ELM’ Pieper, who is part of collective Codex Inferno (nowadays TelmoMiel)
Karim ‘ Karimo’ Batoun, an artist and part of Vage Gasten.
Joas Kleine, from the North of the Netherlands, a concept artist in progress as he is still in art school.
Well established DOMINIQUE, with graphic design jobs done in entertainment, fashion, music and retail.
The judges in the professional panel are nobody less that Claudia Utopia (Tat2), as it is her design the battling artists start out with, renowned street artist and part of the Amsterdam Street Art foundationrepresentative of Wacom Marlieke Berkhout, who is introducing the Bamboo pen and last but certainly not least, Tom ‘Inkie’ Bingle from the UK, known for working with Banksy.
Besides the DesignBattle, a documentary is of KBTR, the most famous writer from Utrecht, is showed during the event. The documentary is made by Sjors Swierstra & Sara Plas.
The Wacom design battle is presented by Claire van der Hall and musically supported by DJ’s Sin City Status.

Would you also like to create an innovative experience? ASA is the perfect partner to design an ‘out of the box’ concept for your product, message or company whereby several urban disciplines meet each other and reinforce each.
For various clients, ASA developed multi-disciplinary concepts. Within these concepts, street art is combined with, as an example, urban music, and interactive workshops. The total experience has a reinforcing effect to keep the target group actively involved and to realize the underlying (commercial) goals.
